Hydrogen of Dutch Origin
Unlocking the Power of Offshore Green Hydrogen

Accelerate Offshore Hydrogen Production in the North Sea

The mission is clear: from grey to green. For that, we need green electricity and green molecules. Offshore wind on the North Sea has taken off. Onshore conversion to green hydrogen will face limitations in a few years. Landing the electricity to shore with wind parks being built further and further away on the North Sea poses costs and challenges. Offshore conversion to green hydrogen offers the solution. The green energy goals for offshore wind set by the Dutch authorities are ambitious: 21 GW in 2030, 50 GW in 2040 and 72 GW in 2050. Achieving these goals requires concrete action – now.
Hydrogen of Dutch Origin – making it happen!
The Netherlands, bordering on the North Sea with excellent conditions for harvesting green energy offshore is ideally suited to lead the way for offshore green hydrogen production. The Dutch are pioneering the way. The first offshore green hydrogen pilot on an active platform, is proof of that Dutch commitment. Next to being home for this pilot, the North Sea will be home for two demonstration projects, initiated by the Dutch Government as stepping stones towards large scale offshore green hydrogen production. With these projects, The Netherlands can and should safeguard this leading position.
To drive this vital part of the transition, we created Hydrogen of Dutch Origin (H2DO). Our purpose is to develop and deliver offshore green hydrogen production in a safe, sustainable and economic manner. From Demo-1, the 30-50 MW demonstration project positioned in wind area Hollandse Kust Noord to Demo-2, and beyond.
