Offshore Green Hydrogen - Powering a Resilient Energy System
We develop scalable offshore green hydrogen projects that connect offshore wind, molecules and markets across the North Sea and North‑Western Europe, strengthening energy security and the transition to homegrown green energy.

Why offshore green hydrogen production matters
Today, the energy transition faces three major challenges: grid congestion, energy self‑sufficiency and limited space and fresh water on land. Offshore green hydrogen production offers a solution to all three.
Europe’s future energy system will rely on both renewable electrons and green molecules. As offshore wind scales up and geopolitical developments increase the need for energy self‑sufficiency, offshore green hydrogen provides a practical system solution.
By converting wind energy close to the source into hydrogen at sea, offshore green hydrogen helps reduce pressure on the grid, supports the rollout of offshore wind and lowers the cost of transporting energy over long distances. It strengthens a flexible and resilient energy system for the Netherlands and North‑West Europe, without claiming scarce land or fresh water resources.
About Hydrogen of Dutch Origin – making it happen!
Hydrogen of Dutch Origin (H2DO) is a Dutch project developer focused on offshore green hydrogen production as part of an integrated energy system. We work with partners across the complete value chain to develop safe, scalable and economically viable projects
in the North Sea.
Building on the offshore hydrogen projects and pilots developed so far, we have started the feasibility phase of our first Demonstrator Project (30–50 MW), with the ambition to be operational in 2031. Designed as a scalable concept, this project supports the path towards larger‑scale offshore green hydrogen production.
H2DO is a member of NL Hydrogen, NVDE, Energie‑Nederland and AquaVentus.
